China Airlines selects Sabre Travel Network to extend Electronic Ticketing to Australian Travellers
- Australian travel industry to benefit from eTicketing capabilities -
Sydney AUSTRALIA, 6 December 2004 – China Airlines has partnered with Sabre Travel Network to offer Electronic Ticketing (eTicketing) to Australian travel agencies.
Electronic Ticketing from Sabre Travel Network is a distribution option that eliminates the need for a paper ticket when boarding an airline and offers significant benefits to airlines, travel agents and travellers alike.
"eTicketing is revolutionising the travel industry and we are pleased to be working with China Airlines to provide Australian travel agents with this capability," said Hans Belle, vice president, marketing, Asia Pacific. "By selecting eTicketing capabilities from Sabre Travel Network, China Airlines will be able to store passenger details electronically enabling faster airport check-ins whilst improving revenue reporting. For Sabre Connected travel agents in Australia, eTicketing will lead to significant efficiency and cost savings whilst passengers will enjoy a more efficient check-in and boarding process and reduce the likelihood of stolen or lost tickets."
The e-ticketing process developed by Sabre Travel Network is fully interactive, allowing agents to issue, refund, exchange, void and display tickets online.
The Sabre GDS, the first system to connect the buyers and sellers of travel, today includes more than 400 airlines, approximately 60,000 hotels, 41 car rental companies, nine cruise lines, 36 railroads and 220 tour operators.
