1- World's biggest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, flies demo flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
2-9- Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' week in Sydney for the 21-member grouping.
3- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrives in Perth at the start of a six-day visit that will also take him to Canberra and to Sydney for the APEC summit September 8-9.
3- World's biggest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, flies low over Hong Kong's landmark Victoria Harbour to launch the four-day Asian Aerospace International Expo.
3-5- National Convention wraps up final session in Yangon, Myanmar (exact date still uncertain).
4- US President George W Bush arrives in Sydney for APEC summit, leaving September 8.
5- Australian Prime Minister John Howard, US President George Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe meet in Sydney to hold first ever Australia-US-Japan tripartite meeting.
7-8- Singapore hosts conference on Asia's Energy and Security Challenge.
9- Taiwan-Africa summit held in Taipei.
9-12 - Mexican President Felipe Calderon to visit India.
10 - Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sydney for first ever official visit by a Soviet/Russian leader.
15 - Taiwan holds street marches to demand UN membership.
21 - Hong Kong prison clerk Ng King-ting sentenced for phoning and dating the girlfriends of inmates.
25 - Case opens on deposed Thai premier Thaksin and wife on abuse of power charges. |
