2nd China and Portuguese speaking countries airports conference – Macau 2007

Organised by the Macau International Airport Co. Ltd, co-organised by the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, Macao Civil Aviation Authority, Macau Government Tourist Office, The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and Institute of Macao Civil Aviation from the 6th to the 8th December 2007 the "2nd China and Portuguese Speaking Countries Airports Conference – Macau 2007" will be held at Venetian Macao Convention & Exhibition Center.

A press conference announcing details of the conference held yesterday on 25th October, 2007 at the Airport passenger terminal departure hall. Ms. Suning Liu, Executive Director of Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. stated at the press conference that with the greatest support offered by the Central Government, Macau SAR Government and the government from the Portuguese speaking countries, in addition, we also get abundant cooperation and assistance extended from each of the airport and civil aviation related entities, the "2nd China and Portuguese Speaking Countries Airports Conference – Macau 2007" will be held again this year. Ms. Liu expressed her deepest thanks to those supporters.

To cope with the economic and trade development policies of the Macau SAR Government by means of playing Macau's unique characteristic to be a linkage between Mainland China and Portugal, following to the succeed in holding the "First China and Portuguese Speaking Countries Airports Conference" in 2004, there were an accumulate no. of 360 air traffic control as well as civil aviation administrative staff from Macau and Mainland China being sent to Portugal to receive special training and these training were organized by CAM. There is a planning to organize a seminar next year with the managerial level who is expert in the finance areas among the Small and Medium Airports. Topics of the seminar will be focused on airport's infrastructure facilities, investment, financing plans and financial management. Etc. We will also establish relevant cooperation mechanism in between Mainland China and Portugal. CAM will put forth every effort to implement concretely the role of Macau to be a linkage platform in between Mainland China and the Portuguese speaking countries.

In the two-and-half day program, the conference will focus on four sessions with different themes. The first conference session will be Regulation and air space as airport's development drivers. Speakers of the session will be scholars, civil aviation and air traffic services leaders.

The next session will be Airports and airlines as key players for sustainable development. Leaders from ACI, IATA, Airports and Airlines will be the speakers they will exchange ideas from industry's perspectives.

The theme for Session 3 is How to implement air transport cooperation among China and PSC countries. Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for the Economic and Commercial Cooperation among China and Portuguese Speaking Countries will moderate the session for representatives to exchange the information for opportunities for cooperation and in particular for business networking amongst participating countries.

In the last session, leaders from airports will share ideas on Airports as the infrastructure connecting the world.

In order to achieve our expectation in holding the the conference, and to ensure the conference sessions at high level, speakers and moderators from the different have been invited from the different countries to share with delegates their fruitful and professional experiences. From China there will be:

*          Deputy Director General of CAAC Central and Southern Administration,

*          Secretary General of China Civil Airports Association

*          President of Air China,

*          President of Macau Civil Aviation Authority

*          CAM Executive Director

*          CEO of ADA

From Portuguese speaking countries, the speakers will be:

*          President of Portugal Civil Aviation Authority

*          Director of ANA-Portuguese Airports Company,

*          Board Member of NAV Portuguese Air Traffic Services

*          President of Brazil Civil Aviation Authority

*          Director of Operations Infraero Brasil

*          Board Member of ASA Cape Verde

In addition to the above, speakers from international organizations, such as Regional Director of ACI Asia Pacific and Vice President of IATA North Asia are also invited.

On 7th December, 2007, it is the anniversary date of Macau Aviation Day, to cope with this,in the end of the conference, there will be the Macau Aviation Day celebration activities to be organized by AACM – Macau Civil Aviation Authority. All the conference delegates will be invited.  Besides, there is plan for signing of agreements at the closing ceremonies, if any agreements among the participating entities reached in the conference. During the Conference, there will be a simultaneous exhibition of products and services related to the airports and aviation industries, to aim at establishing commercial contacts between participants and with suppliers of the industry.
