On November 20, 2007, Macau International Airport held its new fire fighting trucks official launching ceremony at the apron of Macau International Airport. Attending the ceremony including Commissioner of Fire Services, Macau Special Administrative Region Mr. Ma Io Weng, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee Dr. Deng Jun, Executive Director Ms. Suning Liu, President of Civil Aviation Authority of Macau Mr. Simon Chan, Director of Airport Infrasturcture & Air Navigation of Civil Aviation Authority of Macau Mr. Kevin Lam, CEO of ADA-Administration of Airports Ltd. Mr. Jose Carlos Rosa Angeja, representatives of all airports operators and representative of Rosenbauer International AG.
It is with safety in mind that CAM - Macau International Airport Co. Ltd has purchased 3 new state-of-the-art aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicles, which will be unveiled briefly. The trucks, which will be in use, are the most advanced vehicles for this purpose. They are made by Rosenbauer International AG, which has its headquarter in Leonding, Austria, a leading fire fighting vehicles manufacturer. This Panther model comes equipped with the latest available most modern fire fighting technology and one of the trucks is equipped with the High Reach Extendable Turret as an option for fast and efficient extinguishing operation below the wings, a new feature in our fire fighting equipment.
In the speech of Ms. Suning Liu, she expressed that Macau is enjoying a formidable economic growth period, the gaming and tourism industries in particular have boomed in the past few years. Here at the Macau International Airport are also facing a satisfactory growth period with the number of passenger reaching 5 million in November 2007. Also, until the end of this year, MIA, will have 5 new airline partners operating at the airport. Although we are proud to see our passenger numbers grow and the numbers of airlines operating new routes increase at our Airport our principles are still the same. Safety is paramount in our daily operations and it comes as our priority and at the same time we continually develop to ensure our top quality of service. Ms. Liu also stated that being the owner and developer of Macau International Airport, our objectives are to plan, to lead and to coordinate all matters that related to the Macau International Airport development and operation, ensuring all the high standard infrastructure for providing all airport users the safest and most efficient service. All these can encourage the continually economic growth of Macau SAR and guarantee the shareholders' long-term benefits.
In addition, she expressed in more details that in order to commit resources at the fire safety facility enhancement is one of our major task to improve our airport safety operation standard, and in the meanwhile, we are in progress of improving the communication system, navigation system, lighting monitoring system, activities guiding system as well as to carry out the preliminary preparation work for project such as the meteorological systematic function. Hoping all the systems will soon be in place. Ensuring to obtain a high safety control with the fast growing freight volume at the Macau International Airport.
After the handover of the three fire fighting trucks to the Fire Services Department at Macau International Airport, staff from the airport fire fighting brigade will undergo operational and general maintenance training with an instructor who is an engineer from Rosenbauer, to familiarize themselves with the new equipment.
