In November 2007, Aircastle and Shanghai Airlines signed an intention about leasing back 4B757 aircrafts, which is also the first leaseback trade signed with Chinese airlines by Aircastle. Peter Chang, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Aircastle Advisor LLC and Ms. Shao Xiaoyun, senior vice general manager and CFO of Shanghai Airlines have signed the intention. On Nov. 29th, China Civil Aviation Mazagine has interviewed Michael Platt, Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Aircastle Advisor LLC, Peter Chang, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Aircastle Advisor LLC, Ron Wainshal, CEO, Aircastle Advisor LLC about this agreement and relevant questions about aircraft leasing market.
The aircraft leasing business in China is heating up. In the Chinese airline sector, about 70% of aircraft are leased, and 90% of them are leased through overseas companies. And now, Chinese banks are also looking to get in on the action.
