Hong Kong Express Airways is pleased to learn of the a new agreement to further liberalise the aviation market between Hong Kong and mainland China and applauds the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China and the Hong Kong SAR Transport and Housing Bureau for their efforts in further strengthening the link between the Mainland and Hong Kong.
Mr. Ronnie Choi, President of Hong Kong Express Airways said, "Mainland China is the backbone of our route network and it has long been our intent to ultimately fly to Beijing and Shanghai. This announcement provides the very welcome opportunity to finally pursue that goal."
"Demand on trunk routes into China is strong so an increase in the number of Hong Kong airlines permitted to offer services to key cities such as Beijing and Shanghai will certainly better enable the needs of travellers to be more adequately met. Hong Kong Express Airways for one will be readying itself to commence service on these routes as early as next summer should our application to become a designated carrier be successful." He concluded.
Hong Kong Express Airways' route network currently comprises 5 cities in mainland China and regional destinations including the recently launched Yangon, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
