Interpretation to the logo of Grand China Air
Published: Jan 17, 2008

The 21st century is to be the epoch of the uprising and renaissance of the Oriental Culture.

On the top of the logo of Grand China is a precious pearl, representing the supreme and profound nature in the Oriental Culture. As stated in the Chinese magnum opus Laozi, Man takes Earth as his model; Earth takes Heaven as its model; Heaven takes Tao as its model while the Tao takes what is natural as its model. Nature is expansive and profound, full of mystic theories; all living beings are everlasting with vitality and adhere to the nature, surviving and growing. Grand China will adhere to the law of nature, growing and expanding in the infinite universe.

The corporate logo of Grand China is an annulus, abstracted from the legendary Golden-Winged Roc in the Oriental Culture.

According to the legend of Oriental Culture, the Golden-Winged Roc is the only living being closest and highest to the vault of Heaven. The Golden-Winged Roc is body-thoroughly shining with a precious pearl on the top of head. The two wings of the Roc are so immense that one flap can leap over 90 thousand miles. The character of the Golden-Winged Roc is full of bad temper while known as a venturous and brave creature. The Golden-Winged Roc travels with fortunate clouds, bird-viewing from the sky and bringing the good luck and harmony to the human world.

The logo is designed in a symmetric manner, smooth and sharp, like a stable and solid Tai Mountain stone full of penetration and expansion. While painted on the body of aircraft, the logo looks as sharp as a shining sword, but as agile as a herd flute and as elegant as a floating feather in the sky.

The two wings of the Golden-Winged Roc are immense. As Zhuangzi’s Happy Excursion stated, its wings are just like a drooping cloud from the sky. Relying on such huge wings, the Grand China will flap its wings to strive for the uprising of Chinese civil aviation with infinite vitality.

The bottom of the logo is abstract water wave, representing the furious strike caused by the Grand China in the world. According to the oriental legends, water wave also represents the cloud grain. Cloud evaporates while rosy cloud luxuriates. The two lucky signals formed by water wave in the logo indicate that the Grand China will be dedicated to the building of a harmonious world.

The tincture of the Grand China is from the solemn red and warm yellow. Red is the color of life, the color of rising sun, the color of vitality and the color of longevity. Yellow is the principal color of Chinese nation, the principal color of emperor and the color of everlasting life.

The ambition of the Grand China is to create a new chapter in the world with the golden wings of the roc.
