On January 7, 2008, 62 newly recruited Air China cabin crew members gathered in Beijing to attend a half-month long training class symbolizing the final competition for the Olympic Cabin Crew Star Awards.

In order to provide excellent service as the official airline partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Air China has organized 300 cabin crew members to take part in the competition. According to the Organization Committee, over 300 candidates from Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou have passed various examinations to become future Air China cabin crew members. The 62 excellent trainees were selected from the 300 candidates and will take training classes at the Air China Flight Attendant Training Center.

During the opening session on January 7, 2008, trainees received new cabin crew uniforms. One of the trainees delivered a speech on behalf of the group, highlighting the commitment to study hard and offer high service standards for the Olympics. Ms. Wang Yinxiang, Chairman of the Organization Committee and Mr. Tan Zhihong, Senior VP of Air China, encouraged the candidates to prepare for the challenge to better serve the company, the Olympics and the community.

Some of the training includes classes in figure, make-up, basic catering services, and Olympic knowledge. The trainees are expected to take all classes offered to prepare for the final competition. The candidates will also participate in a 3 month pre-work training after the final competition and upon completion, they will be assigned boarding on various Air China flights.

The final competition will be held on January 23, 2008 for the 10 Olympic Cabin Crew Stars Awards.
