1. Architectural design embodies traditional Chinese culture
Terminal 3 is the works of world famous architect Norman Foster. Drawing on colors of Chinese imperial palaces and featuring a magnificent, bold and bright style, the design underlines orange roof, red pillars and golden indoor decorations and aims to save energy. Moreover, indoor decorations of Terminal 3 will also embody traditional Chinese culture.
2. APM connects different buildings
Terminal 3 adopts an automated people mover (APM) system which connects different buildings for the first time in mainland China. With 4-km.-long rails, the system is able to transport 8200 passengers per hour. After going through check-in procedures in T3A, passengers can get to T3B, T3C and Terminal 2 very quickly by the system.
3. Automated baggage handling and high-speed delivery system
The internationally most advanced automated baggage handling and high-speed delivery system is used. The delivery line is 60 km. long and runs at a maximum speed of 7 m. per second. It can handle 20 thousand pieces of baggage per hour.
4. Highly integrated and modernized information system
The airport information system is highly integrated and modernized with full capabilities in back-up and upgrading.
5. Single light guidance system
The Capital Airport will use single light guidance system for the first time in mainland airports. The system automatically guide aircraft and vehicles on the ground for their safe movement.
6. Double-deck multi-functional boarding bridge
Double-deck multi-functional boarding bridge is used for the first time in mainland China. Sixty-eight boarding bridges will serve both departures and arrivals, among which 17 combined type bridges can serve two aircraft at the same time.
7. Stressing environmental protection
At the two sides of the expressways are broad ranges of green area. A 150-thousand-sq.-m. garden will be built on top of the GTC. Landscapes are also designated for the two sides of the 2.5-km APM. The rainwater regulating pond will be built into a 100-thousand-sq.-m. “West Lake”. By the lake will be 200-thousand-sq.-m. green fields. A total of 4 million sq. m. of green areas will be added, creating a beautiful garden airport.
8. Putting people first
The automated footpath is 4.8 km. long. Passages for the handicapped people are well-prepared. Separate toilets for the handicapped and for mother and infant respectively are provided. The brightness, unique colors and clear signs of this new terminal will give passengers a pleasant experience there.
