Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation (Ameco Beijing), located at Beijing Capital International Airport, is a joint venture between Air China Limited and Lufthansa. Ameco Beijing was established on August 1st, 1989 with Air China Limited holding 60% and Lufthansa 40% of the registered capital. The registered capital is USD 187.53 million and the joint venture agreement was signed for 40 years.

Mr. Chai Weixi is General Manager & CEO and Mr. Andreas Meisel is General Manager.

Ameco Beijing adjoins No. 2 terminal of Beijing Capital International Airport in the north and No. 3 terminal in the east, covering an area of more than 600,000 sqm. The maintenance facilities mainly include:

The 4-Bay hangar covers an area of 31,000 sqm where the repair shop area covers 8,500 sqm

A fully enclosed and temperature controlled painting hangar covers an area of 10,000 sqm, which can meet the requirements of stripping, washing and painting of any types of aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747-400

The engine repair/ overhaul workshop and a engine test cell cover an area of 26,000 sqm

Component workshops cover an area of 20,000 sqm including temperature-controlled avionics & electric workshops, landing gear overhaul shop and mechanic, pneumatic & hydraulic workshops, etc.

Ameco Beijing's A380 hangar with 70437 sqm will be put into use before 2008 Olympic Games. Furthermore, a new painting and maintenance hangar accommodated up to Boeing747 aircraft, the central warehouse and the new school building as same as the old one will be completed in 2008.

Ameco Beijing was not only the first joint venture in the aviation sector but also the most powerful maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider in China. Ameco Beijing has over 4,000 employees and holds 15 certificates issued by airworthinessquthorities including FAA, EASA and CAAC.

In the field of aircraft maintenance, the company services almost all modern Boeing and Airbus aircraft while, for the moment, focusing on various types of Boeing and Airbus aircraft when it comes to heavy maintenance. Ameco Beijing provides engine overhaul on Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney products and offers repair and overhaul services for nearly 10,000 components including landing gears, wheels & brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and avionics/electrics. Furthermore aircraft painting, engineering, technical training and logistics services, as well as equipment calibration and repair complete the product portfolio.

Up to now, Ameco Beijing services more than 80 domestic and international customers.

Construction of Ameco Beijing's A380 aircraft maintenance hangar, the largest in Asia, was completed in Beijing on March 18, 2008. The hangar will be able to accommodate all Boeing and Airbus series aircraft including the A380 "superjumbo" aircraft after it is put into operation in April, according to Ameco Beijing.
