China National Aviation Holding Co., parent of Air China Limited, said on March 18, 2008 that it would remain its offering price for buying a stake in China Eastern Airlines Corp. Ltd. although the seller's stock price has dropped below its offer.
China Eastern Airlines H-share closed at HKD 3.54 on March 18, down 2.02%, with A-share closed at CNY 10.41, down 5.54%. Despite that, China National Aviation Holding still gave HKD 5 per share for purchasing a certain H-shares of China Eastern Airlines, higher than the offer of HKD 3.8 per share by Singapore Airlines (SIA).
China Eastern Airlines refused the purchase proposal of China National Aviation Corporation (Group) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Aviation Holding, on February 27, 2008 and is keeping negotiation with SIA about the purchase matter.
The final decision will rely on China Eastern Airlines based on the market conditions.
