Wuhan Tianhe Airport to unveil new terminal building

To welcome the China International Small And Medium Enterprises Fair, Wuhan Tianhe Airport will unveil its new No.2 Terminal Building on April 15.

Building of this new terminal building started in February 2005 with an investment of RMB3.372 billion. It covers an area of 116,000 square meters, four times larger than the current terminal building. The new terminal building is expected to be able to meet the requirement to handle an annual passenger flow of 13 million and will be the largest single terminal building in the Central China area.

According to local media, a new expansion of Wuhan Tianhe Airport has been initiated with an estimated investment of more than RMB10 billion. After further expansion, the airport will be meet the requirements of larger aircraft, including A380 and Boeing 777, for take off and landing.

The China International Small And Medium Enterprises Fair being held in Wuhan is expected to have 40,000 participants.

Approved by State Council, CAAC unveils the National Civil Airport Development Plan earlier this year. According to the plan, which covers the years up to 2020, the number of airports nationwide will increase to 192 by 2010, and to 244 by 2020. The new airports will be built in five main regions of the country - North, East, South, South West and North West. The plan means that eight of every ten Chinese will live within 100 kilometers of an airport by 2020.
