Passengers on two China Eastern Airlines flights were involved in two frightening incidents over the past few days.
Two were hurt when a China Eastern Airlines aircraft was evacuated on Saturday in Beijing. A fire alarm went off on a Boeing 737 bound for Wuhan City in Hubei Province when it was taxiing at Beijing.
One passenger, named Wang Nan, broke bones in his right leg and left arm during the evacuation and the other, named Liang Xiaolong, sustained minor injuries to a leg, the airline said. Liang has left the hospital and Wang received 10 stitches to the head.
Wang's colleague, Yang Jing, said the aircraft braked when taxiing and someone cried out: ''The nose is smoking, everyone gets off the plane.''
Wang, 27, said an air hostess asked passengers to leave the plane and he was pushed by a passenger behind when stepping onto a ladder and fell 5 meters to the ground.
A replacement aircraft took 117 passengers to Wuhan, including Liang, while 13 passengers changed to another flight. An investigation led by China Eastern's Vice President Luo Chaogeng and Vice General Manager Fan Ru is underway.
The carrier said they would pay for medical treatment and compensate passengers.
On Friday, six passengers and three crew members became ill after their flight encountered turbulence heading to Hong Kong from Shanghai. The plane shook violently when flying above Xiamen, and nine people were taken to hospital on arrival in Hong Kong.
All were discharged after checks.
