On May 19, an Air China weekly routine meeting was suspended at 14:28 local time and all participants observed a 3-minute silence to express their deep condolences to those that lost their lives in the Wenchuan earthquake. The meeting resumed afterwards to discuss the arrangements in coordinating resources for disaster-relief goods transportation.
At the same time, all departments of Air China in Beijing and other cities expressed condolences through in-flight broadcast and passenger interactive platform. All members of Air China's ground staff stood in silent tribute for 3 minutes.
Air China is suspending on board entertainment programs on all its flights operated from May 19 to May 21, 2008. Flight attendants read: "Dear passengers, today is the national mourning day. As we cannot stand up when the aircraft is flying in the air, please keep silent in your seat for 3 minutes to express condolences to those that lost their lives in the earthquake and pray for those in disaster-hit areas." The cabin crew then stand in silent tribute for 3 minutes.
This is how the crew members and ground staff of Air China expressed their deepest condolences to the earthquake dead in Wenchuan earthquake. People at Air China will do their best to fulfill their responsibility in disaster-relief flights and support the reconstruction of the earthquake-hit area.
