ICBC teams up with China Southern for new Sky Pearl credit card
Published: Jun 20, 2008

China Southern Airlines, the newest member of SkyTeam and the largest airline in The People's Republic of China is pleased to announce a new program with Industrial & Commercial Bank of China to issue an all-new China Southern Sky Pearl Credit Card (Peony Card).

The new credit card is now available from ICBC.

The ICBC Sky Pearl Club credit card is available for both personal and business use.  Credit cards for personal use are available in four brands: China UnionPay, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

The credit card for business use will be American Express.

The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, the biggest in Asia, and third largest in the world, is taking the lead in terms of credit card issue volume and consuming expenditure within China.

China Southern, the biggest airline company in China, ranks 4th in terms of annual passenger traffic globally, the first within Asia. It is the only one airline company within Asia that ranks fifth in terms of global passenger traffic.

The two companies are working together to bring its network advantages into play by providing secure, convenient quality service to customers.

The most interesting feature for this credit card is CMOS chip and magnet compound medium design which accords to EMV and PBOC2.0 standards. This creative design is the first of its kind for joint Chinese aviation credit cards. Compared to the traditional magnet credit card, the new design is more secure, multi-functional and adaptable.

In addition to normal magnet credit card financial functions, it provides service of membership management, credit card point management and off-line transaction.

The newest member of SkyTeam and the largest airline in The People's Republic of China for the past 29 years, China Southern Airlines connects more than 80 cities around the globe. Major business and vacation destinations served in China include: Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan and as well as International service, including: Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Lagos, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Moscow, Osaka, Paris, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
