China Eastern Airlines Corp. Ltd. (CEA) fell 6.2% to $29.04 and China Southern Airlines Co. Ltd. (ZNH) declined 7.1% to $18.14 after Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. (CPCAY) issued a profit warning over concerns regarding fuel costs.
Australia's BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP) fell 6.2% to $77.75 along with other metals and mining stocks as the sector was driven down by bearish sentiment about global economic growth and weakening demand.
Indian Internet service provider Sify Technologies Ltd. (SIFY) slipped 3.3% to $3.54. Singapore's GigaMedia Ltd. (GIGM) once again continued its decline, falling another 8.3% to $10.56. Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASX) fell 3.7% to $4.12.
