First weekend charter flight from Taiwan arrives in Shanghai
Published: Jul 04, 2008

The first weekend charter flight from Taiwan arrived in east China's Shanghai municipality on Friday morning.

Conducted by China Airlines, the plane touched down at 10:20 a.m. at the Pudong airport.

Friday marks a start of weekend charter flights across the Taiwan Strait. Planes carrying about 760 tourists from five cities of the mainland, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Nanjing, will land or have landed in Taiwan.

From Taiwan merchants' charter flights in 2003, to Chinese traditional festivals charter flights, and to weekend charter flights which take off on July 4, 2008, China mainland and Taiwan are walking smoothly towards regular direct cross-straits flights.
