Kaman Helicopters (International U.S. Pavilion, Hall C4) has kicked off a major campaign for a rapid response delivery of its SH-2G(I) maritime helicopter system.
Eleven helicopters, featuring an Integrated Tactical Avionics System (ITAS) and supported by a complete logistics and training package, are available as soon as contracting will allow. "This is a great opportunity for a nation, or nations, to obtain a readily available, cost-effective, and incredibly capable multi-mission aircraft," said Kaman Helicopters President Sal Bordonaro.
"Numerous maritime countries expressed individual interest in a portion of these SH-2G(I)s," said Mark Tattershall, Director for Marketing and Business Development, Kaman Helicopters. "Kaman would prefer a single integrated fleet or regional procurement. These aircraft are backed up with a Moving Base Simulator and a complete Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) package to sustain eleven aircraft." Tattershall added that a Kaman survey of select Washington D.C. Embassies was very positive, and in-country briefings are planned. "Kaman is also exploring multi-country standardization that could be achieved, for example, by NATO consolidating the maritime security of the Baltic or Black Sea States." Formal briefings will be held during the upcoming Black Sea Defense & Aerospace Exposition, Sept. 24-26, in Romania, and Kaman is exploring the possibility of having an SH-2 Variant there for static display.
The SH-2G(I) is the latest and most capable variant of Kaman's H2 series for maritime helicopters. It is fully equipped to perform a wide variety of naval missions, including Surface Surveillance, Anti-Surface Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Search and Rescue, Contact Investigation and Troop Deployment, and the full complement of Utility missions.
The SH-2G(I)'s fully integrated ITAS is capable of being effectively operated by a crew of two and is deployable with all classes of naval ship, including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Corvettes, Frigates, and larger vessels. It is also fully mission capable in extreme sea states and severe environments from the Arctic to the equatorial regions. Every aspect of the SH-2G(I) has been designed to support safe and effective operation at sea — from its twin T700 turbine power plant, which provides true "return-to-ship" single-engine performance, through its sea-state 5 capable emergency flotation system, to its naval ship environment EMI/EMC/EMV certification and built-in corrosion protection system. The SH-2G(I) is, in every ideal, a world-class intermediate, multi-mission, maritime helicopter.
