Hong Kong Chief Secretary Henry Tang said here that the government will ensure safety and security for the Olympic equestrian events that will be held here. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the registration and hospitality facilities, and the horse-handling procedures at the airport Wednesday, Tang said facilities and measures related to the events are securely in place.
He said that Hong Kong will strive its best to ensure that the Games run smoothly in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Noting the first batch of horses participating in the Games will arrive in Hong Kong Saturday, he said it is an unprecedented event for the city because more than 200 horses from 42 countries and regions will gather in Hong Kong for the Games.
