IOC President arrives in Beijing for Olympics

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge arrived in Beijing Thursday, a week before the Olympics Games opens on Aug. 8.
Hours before Rogge's arrival, IOC honorary president Juan Antonio Samaranch also landed at the Chinese capital. The 88-year-old Spaniard is expected to stay at the city until the end of the games.
Rogge, 66, succeeded Samaranch in July 2001 as the IOC president.
Since August 2003, CAAC and the Chinese civil aviation industry have gathered together to serve the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, in order to guarantee the safety, convenience and simplicity of the air transportation during the Games. Meanwhile, taking the opportunity of Olympic Games, China steps up building of a powerful civil aviation industry.
