Formal government approval has been granted for the US$73 million (Yuan 500 million) construction of Lianshui civil airport in China's Huai'an Jiangsu province.
The airport is located in Lianshui within Chenshi and Jiang'an districts. Construction will start in October and passenger capacity will reach 400,000 people annually.
The first phase of the project will include construction of a 2,400m long, 45m wide runway, four aprons, a 4,000m² terminal and parking lots totalling 152 hectares.
Huai'an city is located in the hinterland of North Jiangsu Province and is famous for its historic and cultural attractions.
