Published: Sep 29, 2008
Morgan Stanley, a Wall Street financial giant, intents to participate in the enlargement of Tianhe International Airport and container terminal in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei Province.

The company promoted its fund for infrastructure facilities in the city. The fund, which the company expects to have a 15-year investment return period and an over-13% return rate. It hopes those projects will have total investment of more than CNY 700 million.

Wuhan now puts CNY 13 billion-18 billion investment in traffic construction every year. Previously, road tolls were used to replenish road, whose maintenance and upgrading also need extra money from the Ministry of Transport and other sources.

New operation patterns have been proposed for those highways and once an investment bank intended to purchase the assets and failed due to the country's related restricted regulations.

The US-investing firm suggests that the city list expressways overseas to raise money for them.

Compared with expressway, the company inclines to invest in the airport and port of the city. The third phase expansion project of the airport is forecasted to start soon.
