Ameco Beijing signed an agreement with Condor on September 25 to add blended winglets for nine of its 767-300ERs. The nose-to-tail work involving winglets modification plus C-check is expected to start next April.
"Because of the present fuel cost pressure, Ameco Beijing helps to carry out the modification as soon as possible in order to boost up airlines' competition in the market. Boeing 767 winglet modification is important to the service provider and to the customer although it is a brand new program", said Andreas Meisel, General Manager and CEO of Ameco Beijing.
It forecasts fuel savings of 4-6% for medium/long-range flights when 767-300ER has installed the winglets. It could also increase payload-range capability and improve take-off performance; meanwhile, it may reduce noise footprint and engine emissions.
Additionally, Ameco Beijing performed already C-checks on five Boeing767s of Condor under a long-term agreement in 2003.
Records of Ameco Beijing's structure modification: First 747 section 41 modification in China; First 767 strut modification in Asia; First 737 body section 178 modification in Asia;
The first in the world begins fuselage structural change of A340 at FR80--FR87.
