A Hong Kong resident who switched his flight boarding pass with a Mainland visitor has been jailed for 12 months.
Benny Lim Hay bun, 35, appeared at Sha Tin Magistracy yesterday ( October 27 ) and was convicted of conspiracy to defraud.
The court heard that a Mainlander intended to board a flight for Vancouver on November 11 last year by using a boarding pass and a forged Canadian passport. All the documents were in the name of Benny Lim Hay bun which led to an Immigration investigation.
Despite Lim's denial, evidence and a witness showed that Lim had visited the airport and checked in a flight for Vancouver on November 11 last year. Forensic examination also confirmed that the Mainlander’s Canadian passport was forged.
Under the Crime Ordinance, a person convicted of the common law offence of conspiracy to defraud is liable to imprisonment for 14 years.
