Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), a newly incorporated state aircraft maker, plans to inject major commercial aircraft assets into Xi'an Aircraft International Corp 000768.SZ, an AVIC executive vice president said on Thursday.
Geng Ruguang added that talks on a possible purchase by Dongfeng Motor Corp of control of minivan maker Harbin Hafei Automobile Industry Group, an AVIC unit, had broken off.
"A deal is out of the question," Geng told reporters on the sidelines of an industry event. "Hafei is being merged into an AVIC subsidiary."
Dongfeng Motor Corp, the parent of Dongfeng Motor Group Co, had been seeking to buy Hafei.
The assets to be transferred into Xi'an Aircraft include Chengdu Aircraft and Shenyang Aircraft, Geng said.
He described them as premium assets but did not give an estimate of their worth, saying they still needed to be assessed. He also did not give a timetable for the transfer.
