Jinchang airport gets green light

A project to build an airport in Jinchang, China has been approved by the State Council and construction work is about to begin.

It has taken more than three years for officials to agree on the airport location, agree,ing the plans with air traffic control and passing various inspections and assessment by experts.

The new airport will be 15km away from downtown Jinchang city in China's Gansu Province.

It will have an annual passenger handling capacity of 200,000. The terminal will cover 3,000m² with four aprons. The runway will be 3000m long and 48 m wide.

Total investment will reach US$45.4 million (Yuan 310 million).
